A Few Words About
Our Club
Establishment History
- After a combined meeting with the Education Department, Forestry Department, State Museum, Sabah PArks, Ministry of Tourism and Environment, and SEPA in 1985, the idea for the Sabah Nature Club was born.
- The then-president of WWF Malaysia, Tan Sri Dato ‘Khir Johari, recognised as one of the well-known clubs doing conservation initiatives and environmental awareness programmes in Sabah.
- SNC was inaugurated and introduced by the Chief Minister of Sabah on October 7, 1988, as the first co-curricular education scheme in Sabah and throughout Malaysia.
SNC operated under the Conservation & Environmental Management Division (C&EMD) Yayasan Sabah Group.
Objective
- To promote interest and knowledge about wildlife, forest and the environment among the youths in Sabah.
- To foster efforts in protecting and preserving the flora and fauna and the state is natural heritage.
- To increase awareness of the economic, cultural, scientific and aesthetic values of Sabah’s flora and fauna.
- To provide opportunities to acquire essential attitudes, values and skills needed to protect and improve the existing natural environment.
